Sports and Remedial Massage

Sports and Remedial Massage is a very effective way to prevent and treat muscle pain, soreness and injuries.

This type of massage may help specific injuries like whiplash, falls, sporting injuries and also repetitive strain injuries(RSI) and other work-related problems. It is also very effective for the majority of muscle pain which is caused by stress or postural misalignment

The techniques used are designed to treat both deep and superficial tissues, similar to those used in sports massage.

Massage Techniques

Deep Tissue Massage – This aims to reduce tension in the deeper layers of muscle

Trigger Point Therapy (TPT) – ‘Knots’ known as trigger points are tender areas of tension in the belly of the muscle. Focused pressure is applied to the muscle in order to release these trigger points

Soft Tissue Release (STR) – The stretching of soft tissues, primarily muscles, tendons and fascia with the aim of restoring length and improving range of movement

Muscle Energy Technique (MET) - The use of gentle muscle contractions by the client to lengthen and relax muscles and help to normalize joint motion

Myofascial Release – Gently applying continued light pressure to inhibited connective tissue with the aim of reducing pain and restore movement

Postural Analysis - This whole body assessment helps to identify where tight muscles are having a negative effect on the skeletal system and can help inform your massage therapist how best support you
